Celebrating active transport success ... Living Streets Aotearoa and the Cycling Advocates' Network (CAN) have awards programmes to recognise leadership in walking and cycling respectively. ViaStrada is proud to support both these initiatives as award sponsors, as follows:
Golden Foot Awards
There are four categories of award:
- The New Zealand Best Practice Walking Facility (sponsored by ViaStrada)
- Top Commitment to Walking by a New Zealand Organisation
- Best New Zealand Walking Promotion
- Best New Zealand Small Walking Project
The awards will be presented in Wellington at the time of the National Walking Conference in early August. Nominations close 30 June 2010. More details about the Golden Foot awards are available from the Living Streets Aotearoa website.
Cycle Friendly Awards
There are five CFAs as follows:
- Best Cycle Facility Project
- Best Cycling Promotion
- Cycle-Friendly Commitment by Business
- Cycle-Friendly Commitment by Public Organisation (sponsored by ViaStrada)
- Cycling Champion of the Year
Nominations will open soon for cycling projects carried out during the 18 months from January 2009 to June 2010. The awards ceremony will be in Wellington in October 2010. More details, including identification of other sponsors, will be available as they emerge, from the CAN website.
