Three members of the team attended the Transport Group conference in Nelson this year and had a great time!

A common road safety challenge in NZ is around railway level crossings. In the past five years, KiwiRail incident data reported typically 15-25 collisions a year between trains and motor vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists (many of them fatal) as well as hundreds of near misses. Therefore, safe design of level crossings is crucial to reducing these statistics.

One of the biggest challenges when managing temporary traffic management sites can be safely providing for people walking, biking, or on other wheeled devices. Sadly several people have been injured or even killed in or around sites across New Zealand over the years. To help address this, Civil Contractors New Zealand has worked to develop some industry guidelines on how to protect these vulnerable road users around work sites.

Autobiographies are not permitted; independent volunteer Wikipedia authors research and write all profiles.

A big shout out and congratulations to Glen Koorey who received his Engineering New Zealand Te Ao Rangahau 2024 Fellows’ Award at Tākina – Wellington Convention & Exhibition Centre on Friday, 22 March, to a packed room of over 200 people.

We were delighted to be involved in the 2WALKandCYCLE Conference held in Wellington on 18 and 19 March 2024. From helping to organise the event itself, to sponsoring a morning tea and hosting an exhibition booth and with three of our staff presenting at the conference (Nick, Axel and John), it was a busy couple of days!

On Friday 9 February, we bade a fond farewell to our interns Amy and Azrie from their respective summer roles with us. While Azrie heads back to his hometown of Auckland, Amy continues her studies at the University of Canterbury. But it’s not goodbye entirely as Amy will be back for a short stint to help us with an upcoming project in Dunedin.
