** STOP PRESS - CNG WORK RECEIVES HIGHLY COMMENDED AWARD **

CNG team membersFinalists were recently announced for New Zealand's 2017 Bike to the Future awards, and ViaStrada are excited to feature on the list! We worked with Abley Transportation Consultants on the Cycling Network Guidance project, which is a finalist for the Innovation Hub Award. The winners will be announced at the Asia-Pacific Cycle Congress awards dinner in Christchurch on 19 October.

Trafinz logoDuring 2017, ViaStrada joined Trafinz, the New Zealand Local Authority Traffic Institute. Whilst we obviously aren't a local authority, Trafinz is a principal champion for road safety initiatives, and that makes them a logical partner for us. The snag, however, has always been that their corporate membership fees were affordable only for large corporates. We pointed this out to them and they very swiftly added a membership class for smaller outfits. Good on them, and we are now a happy new member.

The ViaStrada team (Helen is missing)On 19 June 2017, the ViaStrada team met for breakfast before riding the Papanui Parallel, one of the Major Cycle Routes under construction. We last checked out the route as a team in December 2015 when it was just an idea; now it's almost there. Great to see!

View of signalised pedestrian and cycle crossing parallel to railway lineHave you heard yet that KiwiRail has accredited a number of industry professionals? Going forward, any safety audit that incorporates a level crossing will be required to have a KiwiRail-accredited team member. Get in touch with ViaStrada if you need a KiwiRail-accredited auditor.

Mobile viewViaStrada’s website has been given an overhaul. It’s not just a fresh look, but it’s now much more convenient to check out online content via your cell phone. Thanks to the team of Catalyst to make this happen.

It's official: ViaStrada sucks at cycling. We entered the Aotearoa Bike Challenge and came a miserable 14th in our category (7 to 19 staff). That's because we didn't manage to encourage non-cycling staff to give it a go, as all of us ride bikes all the time already. No exception. So officially, we are a failure.

We're closing for the holidays on Friday 23 December and will be open again on Wednesday 4 January.

We wish all of our colleagues and contacts a merry Christmas and happy New Year.
