Walk21 reflections

Walk21 started in 2000 with a conference in London and the conference has been held every year since, in different cities around the world. The conference draws on the best information and presenters worldwide, and delegates come from around the globe. In 2019, the conference was held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. New Zealand was represented by John Lieswyn of ViaStrada and Gerry Dance of the NZ Transport Agency. John presented on encouraging walking to school, and Gerry presented on NZ research into pedestrian infrastructure guidance and policy. This session, presented at the 2020 Transportation Conference in Christchurch, revealed highlights from the Walk21 conference deemed most applicable to the New Zealand context.
