Farewell to our summer interns

On Friday 9 February, we bade a fond farewell to our interns Amy and Azrie from their respective summer roles with us. While Azrie heads back to his hometown of Auckland, Amy continues her studies at the University of Canterbury. But it’s not goodbye entirely as Amy will be back for a short stint to help us with an upcoming project in Dunedin.

We have thoroughly enjoyed having Amy and Azrie on our team. From the get-go they embraced set tasks with positivity and enthusiasm and have shown a passion to learn and grow. We also learnt from them, in particular, a knowledge-sharing ‘Lunch n Learn’ session on Python by Azrie.

Azrie says, “From the first day at ViaStrada, I knew I was going to have an amazing time. I couldn't pinpoint it then, but I can now. ViaStrada has been a wonderful place to intern for three months, mainly due to its culture and people who are constantly keen to grow and grow together. From Lunch n Learns to colleagues offering to find projects I could work on; it was a privilege to have learnt about the transportation industry in a company that values cycling and sustainability so passionately like ViaStrada.”

Of her time with us Amy says, “Working for the last three months at ViaStrada has been a great experience which exceeded all my expectations of what my first internship could be like. I have thoroughly enjoyed the work I have done and the people I have got to do it with. The knowledge and skills I've learnt from the team here are invaluable.”
