ViaStrada embraces Bike Wise

6th February 2009

We're keen to demonstrate our support for sustainable transport and liveable cities by participating in Bike Wise once again.

Most of our staff will cycle during the month, whether in Christchurch, Dunedin or Auckland - and many already are regular bike commuters.  Last year we were in the 7-24 staff category; this year we're competing with the bigger boys (and girls) in the 25-99 category.  And did you know that Bike Wise won the ViaStrada Award for Cycle-Friendly Commitment by a Public Organisation last year?  Here's what they say on their homepage:

Bike Wise Week wins award

The Bike Wise team were stoked to receive the ViaStrada Award for Cycle-Friendly Commitment by a Public Organisation for Bike Wise Week 2008.

Now in their sixth year, the Cycle-Friendly Awards are designed to acknowledge and celebrate some of the most notable achievements in the country that are helping to promote cycling and to create a cycle-friendly environment. The Awards are devised by the Cycling Advocates' Network (CAN), the national organisation promoting everyday cycling.

The New Zealand Transport Agency and partners the Ministry of Health wish to congratulate the Bike Wise team along with all the regional coordinators, community groups and participants who made Bike Wise Week 2008 a great success.
