Background
Following on from the prioritisation of Active Whakatāne projects, ViaStrada collaborated with our partners DCM Urban to produce landscape and traffic design plans for the accesses to and pathways through this major town park.
By integrating landscape design, urban planning and traffic design the team was able to produce visualisations that are buildable - with turning paths calculated, parking accessibility and traffic safety all considered. The client found the visualisations particularly useful in communicating ideas that previously did not have strong support due to the presence of existing (substandard) active transport and recreational paths.
