Background
Whangārei has the opportunity to promote active school transport through a travel planning programme. ViaStrada collaborated with Northland Transportation Alliance (NTA) to develop a School Travel Planning pilot for two schools to test the concept before scaling up. NTA managed the programme internally using a ViaStrada-developed GIS webmap and student travel survey. Key support included school recruitment materials, pilot school selection, a travel plan template, a survey tool, and planning resources.
