ViaStrada Partners with University of Otago to Offer Fully Funded PhD Scholarship
ViaStrada is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with the University of Otago through the Applied Doctorates Scheme. Together, we are offering a fully funded PhD scholarship focused on a critical question for Aotearoa’s future:
How do New Zealand’s land use and transport patterns shape transport energy demand?
This project offers the chance to work at the intersection of transport planning, energy systems, public health and sustainable urban development.
Successful applicants will work alongside leading academics and industry experts, gaining hands-on experience in applied research with real-world impact.
The project will include:
- analysing land-use and transport system interactions through accessibility modelling
- modelling and evaluating energy demand
- generating evidence to support equitable low-carbon transport transitions in New Zealand
- collaborating with practitioners, planners, and policymakers
Co-supervised by ViaStrada Ltd and the University of Otago, this scholarship offers a unique pathway into research that matters—helping shape sustainable and equitable transport solutions for New Zealand.
