Background
A major new iwi-owned and funded building is set to grace the Whakatāne waterfront.
Working with partners DCM Urban, ViaStrada prepared a variety of pedestrian crossing options to connect the building with an existing marae. These designs met the best practices of the Pedestrian Network Guidance (that we authored). Each had various tradeoffs and levels of service for people walking and driving.
