SNUG (Signals NZ User Group) is a subgroup of the Engineering NZ Transportation Group, for those involved in the design, operation and maintenance of traffic signals. Axel and Megan attended the 2018 SNUG workshop (1-2 November) in Hamilton, having been invited to present on the directional cycle signals trial. They also facilitated a discussion on the possibility of allowing vehicles to filter-turn through cycle movements coming from separated cycleways. They were pleased with the positive feedback from their peers, and the discussion generated. They also enjoyed learning about other developments in the field of traffic signal engineering throughout the country, plus the opportunities for networking.
