Where presented / published:
ACRS Rural Road Safety Network webinar, 26 Mar 2026
At an ACRS webinar on "Rural Road Safety for Different Road Users", Glen Koorey was one of three panellists and presented on the issue of rural cycling safety. As well as outlining the typical risks faced by people cycling in rural areas, he also discussed how audio-tactile line-markings (ATLMs) have been used to improve safety on rural highways in NZ.
As part of an NZTA safety improvement programme on low-volume regional highways in 2018, Glen explains how he assisted in identifying appropriate cycle-friendly locations for ATLMs and refining the national guidelines for installing them to take into account cycling needs.
