Background
This project has two 'drivers':
- The Fitzgerald bridge over the Avon River needs to be earthquake strengthened.
- The adjacent intersection has a high crash record.
Our team has undertaken the design work for the intersection upgrade. Due to a high occurance of right-turn-against-crashes, an interim measure has been implemented, banning one right turn movement and having full turn protection for another.
