Ashu joined us in May 2026. He has a PhD in Transportation Engineering (University of Canterbury), a Master of Engineering in Transport Engineering & Planning (India), and a B.Tech. in Civil Engineering (India).
Ashu’s career spans data analytics, transport impact assessments, transport modelling, road safety investigations, GIS-based spatial analysis, and speed management across New Zealand. His PhD at Canterbury explored how online shopping influences travel demand, giving him a future-focused perspective on how transport systems evolve.
He has worked closely with private developers, councils, consultants, and Waka Kotahi NZTA on transport planning and design projects that improve safety, efficiency, and community outcomes. Ashu is passionate about transport solutions that make everyday life better for people and communities.
Ashu is also a Certified Safe System Assessor and Road Safety Auditor, and has been previously certified in TTM Inspector (Level 1) and STMS NP (Level 1).
When he’s not working, you will often find Ashu playing cricket, exploring hiking trails, experimenting in the kitchen, or learning musical instruments – the harmonium being his current favourite...
