How much data is enough to make informed decisions about pedestrian safety?

That's the challenge explored in recent Austroads research presented by ViaStrada's John Lieswyn and Glen Koorey alongside Phil Harbutt from PivotSpace.

The research investigated the minimum data requirements needed to effectively monitor, analyse and improve pedestrian safety outcomes. By identifying the most critical datasets and indicators, the project helps agencies make better-informed decisions, prioritise investment, and develop more effective road safety interventions.

The webinar generated strong interest across the transport and road safety sector, attracting 280 registrations and 178 live attendees from Australia, New Zealand and several other countries. The session received an average audience rating of 4.23 out of 5, with participants praising the practical approach, depth of research and relevance to real-world road safety initiatives.

Attendees represented a broad range of disciplines, including transport planning, traffic engineering, civil infrastructure, road safety, government policy and asset management.
