Local Transport Issues for Christchurch

Where presented / published:

The Tuesday Club, Smash Palace, Christchurch, 10th Sep 2019

Organised by former Mayor Garry Moore, the Tuesday Club has been a regular gathering for people passionate about the future of Christchurch. Typically each week, different presenters will be invited to speak about interesting topics relevant to the city.

Back in Sep 2019 (just before the Local Body elections), Glen Koorey was invited to deliver a presentation introducing a range of topical transport issues facing Christchurch. Over roughly an hour, Glen introduced the organisational structure of transport in NZ, how we can use different multi-modal approaches to address congestion, tackling some of the myths about cycling and cycleways, how to improve public transport in Christchurch, road safety and parking issues in the city, benefits of lower speed limits, and funding challenges for Christchurch.

The presentation slides are available here; you can also view the YouTube video of the session.
