Welcome to Mansour Johari

Welcome to Mansour!

This month we are delighted to warmly welcome Mansour Johari to our growing team.  Mansour’s first project with us involves research for an evidence review of road space re-allocation for Waka Kotahi.

Mansour earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Civil Engineering and Transportation Planning in Iran. He gained five years of experience working on various transportation and research projects at the IUT Transport Institute before relocating to New Zealand in 2019 to pursue further studies in transportation engineering at the University of Canterbury. Recently, in November 2022, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis in the field of transportation engineering.

During his Ph.D., Mansour worked as an Associate Project Supervisor and Teacher Assistant Coordinator. Mansour also served as a Lecturer in Traffic Engineering at Ara Institute of Canterbury in semester one of 2022 in a part-time role. He is serving as a reviewer in different international conferences and journals like TRB, Transportation Research Part C, Physica A, IET Intelligent Transport Systems, etc. Mansour has also been a member of Transportation Group New Zealand and a Member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers - Australia and New Zealand (ITE-ANZ) since 2019 and served as the president of the ITE-ANZ student chapter at the University of Canterbury 2021-2022.

Mansour now has over 7 years of academic and industrial experience in a wide range of traffic and transportation including transport planning, multi-modal transport modelling, and transportation research. Mansour, now at ViaStrada, is interested to focus more on sustainable transport systems and in particular active modes toward a more efficient usage of transportation networks.

April update: Mansour has now obtained a new passenger transport role at Christchurch City Council - All the best!
