The Tikipunga Single Stage Business Case actions the identified fifth route in the hub and spoke main corridor model within the Whangārei Walking and Cycling Strategy (2018) . The focus of the business case is the city links programme, connecting the Tikipunga town centre to Whangārei City Centre, based primarily upon the residential growth occurring in the area. Following community input, further supporting programme options and recommendations showed a need for local links (between amenities in Tikipunga and Otangarei) and recreational links (for leisure and sports).
Key Contact: John LieswynFar North District Council Urban Active Modes Plan
The Far North District Council commissioned ViaStrada and Abley to develop a geo-spatial approach to determining the annual investment required to improve footpaths in the largest towns. For each town, we prioritised the gaps in the network and estimated the financial investment required to meet a benchmark level of service over various time horizons. We also mapped all streets by ideal pedestrian crossing type to inform future crossing analysis and improvements.

ViaStrada prepared five funding applications for pilot projects using "tactical urbanism" techniques to test changes to the street environment. Three of them received funding: the Kakaharoa Drive connection between the town centre and riverfront; the activation of King Street in Kopeopeo; and the low-traffic concepts for the Muriwai neighbourhood. The applications included strategic context, organisation charts, concept graphics, cost estimates, and monitoring/evaluation plans.

Key Contact: John LieswynNSW Fatigue-related rural road crashes & solutions
Transport for New South Wales commissioned ViaStrada to create a benefit cost analysis tool that assesses measures that prevent fatigue-related road crashes. Based on this tool, ViaStrada also assisted with the preparation of presentation material to make the case for investment in safety measures to address driver fatigue, including tactile line-markings, safety barriers, and rest areas.
Key Contact: John LieswynPassing lane and overtaking opportunities
The top of the South Island generally has rugged terrain, with winding roads resulting in poor sight distances and little flat land on either side of the state highways. The region’s state highway network crosses many streams and rivers where bridge and culvert structures restrict opportunities for the carriageway (lanes and sealed shoulder) to be widened.
Key Contact: Warren LloydWoodend western bypass assessment
The Waimakariri District Council (WDC) commissioned ViaStrada to undertake a high level assessment of the possible western bypass options for Woodend and in particular to determine whether the conclusion reached by Transit, to eliminate further consideration of the full western options, was sound.
The need for the assessment had arisen from the Council expressing concern, that the four options Transit New Zealand presented to the community in July 2007 are not the only viable options.
