Gardens of the World - Consent Decision Issued

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

The Nelson office received a surprise decision from Tasman District Council declining consent for a high profile proposal for a crematorium, memorial gardens and café at the Gardens of the World near Richmond.

The application was declined despite a staff report recommending granting consent, supporting reports from all Council staff (planning, traffic and air discharges), and despite a strong case from ViaStrada experts on planning, noise and traffic matters.

The public response in the media also indicates that the public were disappointed by the decision. ViaStrada staff have been retained to work on an appeal.
