2021 Transportation Conference in Auckland

This poster presentation gives an overview of the 18 amendments to the Cycling network guidance (CNG) that have been published since January 2020 across 4 different topic areas: new guidance (7 topics), major changes to existing guidance (2 topics), case studies (6 cases), and other topics (3 topics). The CNG provides a national framework of guidance for planning and designing for cycling. First published by Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency in July 2016, the CNG has since been continually updated for new topics and existing content amended. This poster presentation explains the process for developing updates and outlines planned future improvements. Presented at the 2021 Transportation Conference in Auckland, it covers the conference’s three sub-themes. It shapes choices by informing how to create attractive facilities that will attract growing demand. It leads change by giving planners and designers the tools and resources that they need to do their job professionally. And it provides solutions how change can be catered for.
