The Cycling Advocates' Network (CAN) has presented the 6th annual Cycle-Friendly Awards, celebrating initiatives to promote cycling and create a cycle-friendly environment at both a national and local level in New Zealand.
Many exciting things are starting to happen around New Zealand, encouraging more people to cycle for transport and recreation. The Awards are designed to acknowledge and reward some of the most notable achievements in the country each year.
One of the award categories, the Cycle-Friendly Commitment by a Public Organisation, was sponsored by ViaStrada. This category was won by Bike Wise week 2008.
The 2008 Gemini Cycle Friendly Awards were presented by the Hon. Lianne Dalziel. Axel Wilke was the MC for the Awards function. A PDF of the presentation, put together by Axel and Gaz Sanvicens, is available from our website.
