Domestic Transport Costs and Charges: Road Crashes

Where presented / published:

Transport Knowledge Hub online webinar, 22 Aug 2022

Following a study for the Ministry of Transport into domestic transport costs and charges, Glen Koorey presented an online webinar summarising ViaStrada's work on this, investigating the social cost of road transport-related "accidents" or crashes.

In a session that also included consideration of costs/charges for walking & cycling, taxi, ride-hailing, micro-mobility and parking, Glen presented an overview of how the total/average costs were calculated for motor-vehicle and non-motor vehicle accidents, split by various road transport modes. Using crash prediction models, he also summarised the determination of marginal cost changes if travel vehicle-kms changed.
