Services

ViaStrada offers a wide range of services to the transport industry. We work with local and national clients to solve design problems involving intersections (including those with traffic signals and roundabouts) and corridors (including speed management), through concept design, safety audits and peer review.

We’ve worked on both sides of the Tasman to offer advice on transportation engineering design manuals, intersection standards and guidelines. We’re involved in transport policy and research, making us well placed to develop strategies and policy documents for local and national government.

As well as planning and designing specifically for cycling and walking (including school/workplace travel planning), we contribute to the development and delivery of industry training, so that knowledge can be shared across the industry.

  • Design & safety

We work with local and national clients to solve design problems involving intersections (including those with traffic signals and roundabouts) and corridors (including speed management), through to concept design, safety audits and peer review. We can provide analysis and provision for public transport, and sustainable active transport (walking and cycling). We offer a range of services to help property developers, architects, project managers and councils with transport aspects of development projects.

  • Planning & policy

We have developed and reviewed various strategic plans covering areas like transport investment, sustainable and active transport, road safety, and speed management. We have also investigated transport policy issues for central and local Government agencies and helped them to consider improved policies and practices.

  • Training & guidelines

We have developed and updated transportation policy, planning and design guidelines for various national agencies. These have generally involved identifying and adapting best-practice international guidance to provide cutting-edge guidance for the industry. This expertise also feeds into the guidance we pass on in our industry training and other presentations.

  • Research & trials

We have undertaken many different investigations to understand the implications of changing transport systems and facilities or from introducing new technologies or infrastructure. Many of those investigations  involve the collection of a wide range of transport user data. We share the findings of these studies in various publications and presentations, and many of them result in changes to industry practices, guidelines, and legislation.
