For the third year running, ViaStrada entered teams in the 6 hour blast at McLeans Forest Park on the banks of the Waimakariri River about 20 km north of Christchurch. The weather forecast for this MTB relay looked scary, and indeed it was raining in Christchurch on race day until 3 pm, but it was dry on McLeans Island. Lucky as! And fun we had.
We had three teams competing with a total of nine competitors.
The ViaStrada Vixens were made up of Megan (left), Helen and Megan's friend Hannah. They came 6th in the Women's category out of 20 teams. Great effort.
The ViaStrada Broken Yellows included Warren, Jon and Andrew.
The ViaStrada Special Vehicles was made up of John, Axel and Rick, and they came 3rd in the corporate men's category (out of 58 teams). Awesome.
