2008 Transportation Conference
ViaStrada staff attended the 2008 NZ Transportation Conference in New Plymouth and contributed to the profession's development by giving four presentations. Megan Fowler won the prestigious Best Young Author award for her paper "Staged Pedestrian Crossings". Apart from Megan's presentation, Andrew Macbeth contributed two presentations, and Axel Wilke gave one paper.
Andrew's first technical note was on a signalised roundabout design to overcome a pedestrian and cyclist safety problem. The second presentation was a combined technical note with the New Zealand Transport Agency and McCormick Rankin Cagney on two 'Think Pieces' covering NZ transport challenges. Axel's technical note covers the introduction of bus priority in Christchurch.
