Rural transport networks

ViaStrada has experience investigating several aspects of rural road design, safety and operations. Glen Koorey in particular has extensive research and consulting experience investigating NZ rural road safety patterns; relationships between crash rates/severity and road curvature; reviews and designs of rural highway realignments, passing lanes, curve advisory speeds, and other safety measures; and using TRARR simulation modelling.

ViaStrada have conducted several safety audits and speed management investigations of rural roads. They have also undertaken development planning of rural cycling networks and outdoor visitor facilities, as well assessments of rural and peri-urban development proposals.
