  • Axel Wilke joins cycle safety review panel

    Following the deaths of a number of cyclists on New Zealand roads in recent years, a coronial review of cycling safety in New Zealand was undertaken and reached its conclusion in November 2013.

  • Cycling is on the up

    Statistics New Zealand has released the 2013 travel to work census data, and cycling participation has increased since the previous census was taken. In 2006, the proportion of people cycling to work on census day was 2.5% nationwide. By 2013, this had increased to 2.9%, which represents an increase of 13%. There's no surprise in this, and this is certainly consistent with our impression that more people are interested in cycling.

  • Christmas and New Year shutdown

  • 10 years of Fundamentals courses

    Over the last 10 years, some 812 people have attended the training course Fundamentals of Planning and Design for Cycling. The course was first run on 3 June 2003 in Christchurch and had been taught 48 times by mid-2013, so it’s time to look back and reflect.
